Certified Windshield Repair You Can Trust.

Pitstop is led by a member of the ROLAGS committee — the national body that sets the official guidelines for windshield repair quality across the industry.
Our owner doesn't just follow the standard; he helps write it. Our shop is also a proud founding member of the San Diego Windshield Repair Association (SDWRA).
Additionally, he has authored many articles in the industry magazines for the National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA), Medium and other industry publications.

We've been repairing windshields since 1997, and our work is backed by reviews from real customers across the city.

Is Windshield Repair Covered by Insurance?

You may notice that Pitstop, like more and more independent auto glass shops, doesn't bill your insurance company directly — and that's a deliberate choice, not a limitation.

Most insurance glass claims are processed through a single third-party administrator, Safelite Glass Corp (SGC), which is owned by Safelite — one of our direct competitors.

SGC sets the reimbursement rates independent shops are paid for insurance-billed work, and those rates often fall well below what shops like ours charge at retail.

In effect, a competitor ends up setting the price floor for the rest of the industry.

Rather than accept below-market rates set by a competitor, we keep things simple: you pay our transparent, fair retail price, and we give you everything you need to file for reimbursement on your own.

It keeps our pricing honest and keeps the decision about how we run our business in our own hands — not a competitor's.

Most comprehensive auto insurance policies cover windshield repair, often with no deductible — so while we don't bill your insurer directly, many of our customers get fully reimbursed after filing their claim.

We provide you with all of the instruction that you will need. It's easy as 1-2-3 to get your money back.

We're happy to answer questions about what to include when you file.

How Long Does it Take?

Most repairs take about 15 minutes. We're a walk-in shop — no mobile service and no appointment needed.

Since most jobs are quick, plenty of customers wait it out next door at Starbucks, or duck into Trader Joe's or Ralph's for a quick grocery run while we work.

You can drive away — and even get your car washed — right after your repair, no waiting required.

What to Expect From Your Repair

A professional repair typically restores 80–98% of your windshield's original appearance and stops the damage from spreading further.

In most cases the repaired area becomes very hard to notice — but on close inspection, some faint marking can still be visible.

Occasionally, the damage may spread a bit during the repair attempt. If that happens, we'll bond it at no extra charge — after all, it was already broken before we started, so you have nothing to lose by letting us try.

We'll always give you an honest assessment of what to expect for your specific damage before we start.

Will my windshield look brand new after the repair?
Are your technicians actually certified?

Yes. Our shop is SDWRA-certified, and our owner is a member of the ROLAGS committee — the organization that sets the national quality standard for windshield repair. All PitCrew™ Team Members undergo WEEKLY training. The Pitstop Method requires continuing education in order to stay on top of current trends in types of glass, refractive coloring, ADAS safety, SRS airbag safety awareness, electronics and wiring, adhesive-blending technologies and most importantly, acid-flush systems.

No other company is as strict and serious about windshield repair science as Pitstop's PitCrew™ Team Members.

In most cases, yes — repairs typically restore 80–98% of the glass's original clarity and appearance, and the damage stops spreading. Some very faint marking can occasionally still be seen up close, but most customers can't find the repair spot once it's done.

Does Pitstop Replace Full Windshields?
Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk in?

Not anymore. We saw too many shops in this industry push customers toward expensive, unnecessary replacements when a simple repair would have done the job just as well. So we made a deliberate choice to focus exclusively on windshield repair — and do it better than anyone else in San Diego. Bring us any windshield damage you have. If we can't repair it, we'll gladly point you to a local replacement shop we trust.

No appointment needed — we're a walk-in shop, open Tuesday–Friday 10a–3p and Saturday 10a–2p, with most repairs completed in about 15 minutes. A quick note on hours: we close during rain, high humidity, and extreme heat, since those conditions can affect the quality of the repair, and we're also closed for a few major holidays. If you're ever unsure whether we're open, hit the Request Service button to send us a message and we'll get right back to you.
